FAQ
Your adventure begins in your own home occupied by you and your mother. Before leaving your house, go to the computer and withdraw the only item in there, a POTION.
After leaving, you may search the town. After exploring, head to the northern part of the town into the grassy area. Professor Oak will stop you and take you back to his lab. When you arrive he talks about a few things and then lets you choose a beginning Pokémon. You have three choices: Bulbasaur, Squirtle, or Charmander. Bulbasaur and Squirtle are better choices for the first part of you journey, but Charmander is over all stronger. He will then let Gary choose a Pokémon and he will challenge you to a battle. If you win, you will win a little money and your Pokémon will grow by one level.
Resume you journey north to Viridian City. You won't be able to capture any Pokémon yet because you don't have any Pokéballs. Just try to build up your beginning Pokémon's experience levels.
When you arrive in Viridian City, you should visit the Pokécenter if you Pokémon need some energy. Then go to the Pokémart and talk to the sales clerk. He will give you a package that you must take back to Professor Oak. Now you have to travel all the way back to Pallet Town. When you get back to Pallet, talk to Professor Oak and he will give both you and Gary a Pokédex to keep track of the number of Pokémon you see and catch.
Head back to Viridian City and exit the city to the north. You will see a path that you can follow on the west side of the town, but you must earn a certain number of badges to proceed through the rest of the route.
When you leave, go as far north as possible. You will come to a building and once you pass through it you will be in Viridian Forest. Here you will find Caterpie, Metapod, Weedle, and Kakuna. You may only carry six Pokémon at a time so you might need to take a few trips back to Viridian City to drop off and heal you Pokémon.
